Here is another piece of writing by one of my Inspirational & Automatic Writing students. The topic given to Spirit was “Healing” and the student felt drawn to ask St Francis of Assisi to step forward and write. This is what he wrote – hope you enjoy it. Sarah
Healing – with St Francis of Assisi
There are many forms of healing for there are many different kinds of injury needing to be healed. Most obvious, in human terms, is the art of the physician, where God-given intelligence enables him or her to diagnose a problem with the physical body or the mental wellness of the human and to prescribe treatments to cure or alleviate the problem.
Much progress has been made on a physical level with medicine but many challenges still remain, for the human body is a complex and delicate machine. Human life is fragile. Still, not all ills can be cured, not all damages mended. The fragility of human life renders it all the more precious.
Less progress has been made in terms of mental health. Here, man’s comfort with the physical, his focus on all things scientific, is not so much help as hindrance – for he is less likely to address the emotional, the spiritual, with success if he is mired in a world of membranes and chemicals.
There is some helpful crossing over between the two approaches – the maturing world of physical medicine and the emerging one of emotional medicine – in the area known as alternative medicine. Here, energetic therapies such as Reiki cross the barrier between the physical and the emotional. For this is healing which is non-specific in its creation and which flows to where it is most needed, taking the form in which it will be most effective. These forms of healing hold the clue for the progression of human medicine.
In your future, therapies will arise that are almost beyond current comprehension. Non-specific growing of human matter and the creation of chemical substances that will transform into what is needed by the body; the control of natural energies that will flow to where they are needed and effect the transformation – the cure – of their own accord.
But perfect health throughout a human life is not, nor never will be, possible, for the vehicle is built to have a limited life span. Human life is intended to be brief, for it is a learning period. And as you all know from your schooling, the best lessons are short, intense and interactive. If they go on too long, if interest and attention is lost, then learning ceases to happen.
These, then, are the various methods currently employed, and those of the future that will be employed, in the laying on of hands – whether surgically, energetically, or chemically – to heal the human body or mind.
Now let us address healing in a broader sense, for it is not always doctoring which is of the greatest value. Here, let us bring to mind the healing power of an embrace, of a smile, of a few words kindly spoken or written.
One of the greatest gifts bestowed on anyone having a human experience is that he or she is sharing that life with others. You are not alone. There are others around you who share similar challenges, experiences, feelings.
And the greatest sources of healing, the most effective types of healing, are not always the most obvious ones. Sometimes a physical injury is not fixable. Sometimes an illness is not curable. Does this mean that no form of healing is effective? No. For is not the comfort of a loved one’s presence a boon, even when your body is beyond repair? Are not words of comfort or love, spoken softly, exactly what is needed when one feels beyond hope? Emotional healing goes far beyond the physical body. And when the physical body cannot be healed, emotional healing is even more necessary.
In your search for the next wonder drug, the next surgical technique, the next gene therapy, do not forget the power of a loving embrace. Do not forget the power of sincere words. Open your hearts to what it means to be in need of healing. Share your shared life. The injuries to others are not always visible, the life that most needs healing is not always visibly blighted. Sometimes those most in need of healing appear to others to be living a charmed or perfect life.
This is where a healer’s senses go beyond those known to conventional medicine. This is where the healer that exists in every human can emerge and perform a miracle. For every one of you can heal. Every one of you can perform miracles daily. It does not require a surgeon’s training or a psychiatrist’s learning. It does not even require an alternative practitioner’s years of study. All it requires is an open heart, a connectedness to your soul. And then, in tune with yourself, you are also in tune with others. Then in your openness you can feel the other’s need on an instinctive level.
A kind word as you pass in a doorway, a smile to a stranger as you travel to work, a hand on a shoulder, an embrace at the end of a long day, fingers smoothing hair across a furrowed brow, a hand held. A few well-chosen words: I love you, I am sorry, may I help, you are not alone, I am here. These small things are the currency of healing, for all healing begins with connectedness and willingness to share. Sometimes the sharing means taking – sharing a burden for example – and sometimes it means giving, perhaps energy or attention or physical support. Give and take, connectedness. This is where healing begins and where it ends.
In the centre there is medicine and science and there are developments to come in all these areas. But what will never change is the attendant need for the small healings of everyday life. For, given in enough quality and quantity, they themselves can prevent many greater ills from occurring.
And so I leave you with this thought: do not leave healing solely to the physicians, eminent and admirable as they are. Do not leave it even to those who assign themselves as healers, gifted and generous as they are. Determine, instead, to be a healer yourself, for that is your gift as a human being.
Bring healing to your words and touch, and empathy to all your relationships, every day. Begin with your relationship with yourself. Be compassionate with your self. Do not criticise, but support your self with love and praise, with kind words at the end of a challenging day. Tell your self you are beautiful, that you are strong, that this too shall pass. Then do the same for those you care for most – and then for those whose lives are touched by yours even in the most fleeting of moments.
Be a ripple in the current that runs through the world, connecting each living thing to another and another. Heal and be healed in the simplest and most fundamental of ways: be kind to one another.

White light: the universal panacea of the spiritual movement. It can do all and everything! Well, maybe not.
Like many spiritual concepts and tools, it can get overused, misused or be lost in translation. Don’t get me wrong it should be in your spiritual and energetic toolbox but use it wisely.
Firstly, what is it? And here comes problem number one. Different people see it as different things. Hence the word universal in the opening line. Ask yourself what is it to you, do you even know? Are you, in fact, using it because someone else told you to.
For me, white light is a definite energy. It comes from and is part of the Spirit realm. Please note, the Spirit realm and the Universe are two different things. The Spirit realm is the plane of existence where your Soul comes from and will return to. It is pure energy, with no matter. This is where Spirit resides in pure conscious energetic form.
White light is the substance that binds them together, exists in space between them and is of them. Their collective energy if you like. It can be sent by them to assist us. Or we can call it in as we are part Spirit. White light is pure and clear.
We can use white light for healing, clearing, expanding or as part of the opening up process. As the prism shows, white light can be split into various colours. This is what it does when healing but in reverse, where it brings dis-harmonious energy back into alignment as one harmonious energy.
Common misuses of white light–
I often come across people who are protecting themselves with white light. Surrounding their aura with it. However, the is not protective. In fact is can create the opposite effect. Negativity is attracted to the light, not repelled by it. A bit like a moth to the flame. If you want to use a coloured light for protection try dark blue. My favourite visualisation and the one I share with my clients and students is to imagine the outside of your aura as mirrored (think 1970’s Disco Ball). Negativity is reflected away from you by the mirror.
Often students use white light when they are grounding – seeing their roots as white, or the energy of Mother Earth as white or indeed even bringing white light down from the Spirit through the crown chakra and then into the Earth. White light is weightless. When we use the word Light it is in both senses of the word – luminous and weight. Where white light is faster moving than we are it can, in fact, unground you rather than ground. I encourage my students to consider their base chakra also known as the root chakra – what colour is it? Red. It is called the root chakras as this is the where you ground from. Therefore, using the colour red for your roots and the energy of Mother Earth coming back into you is more grounding than white.
3. Crown Chakra
Another problem I find is that students don’t know the colours of the chakras. Many times they say their crown chakra is white. No, it is violet. When you envisage your crown chakra as white you are in effect over stimulating it which can lead to you being too open and struggling with clarity. If you look at the colours of the chakras there is a logical order – based around how colours merge – Red & Yellow makes Orange, Yellow & Blue makes Green, Blue & Violet makes dark blue – think back to the prism.
Some good uses for white light-
1. Washing through your aura
2. Washing through a chakra (or all of them)
3. Cleansing a space or object
4. Balancing your own energy (for instance you have too much physical energy or red energy and need to lighten up).
5. Cleansing and charging crystals
6. Lifting the mood in a room or space where it has got too heavy
White Light is a combination of all colours, as we see colour. Don’t forget all the other colours; they are equally useful and potent. Blue and Green are very healing and calming. Pink can help with giving and receiving love (especially for self). Yellow can strengthen your free will and confidence. Orange can assist with emotions and creativity. Violet is good for Spirit communication.
When cleaning your chakras using the colour associated with that chakra is often more suitable than using white. Remember white is very fast moving and can create expansion. Your chakra might need calming rather than stimulating. When grounding you might brown for your roots more soothing than red, especially if you are very connected to nature.
We live in a world of colour. So don’t be monochrome when working with Spirit and Spirituality. We are Spirit but we are also human and our body is physical matter. Physical matter resonates with colour. If we overuse white light we will run the risk of devaluing it or neutralising it. We can become complacent.
Keep white light in your toolbox along with all the other colours. Use your own instincts as to what colour to use. Ask your Spirit Guides or Soul if you are unsure. Then when you do use white light it will be all the more poignant.
Here is another piece of writing from Spirit done by one of my students. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
“The bear and the rabbit
Take my hand said the bear
I will lean on your shoulder said the rabbit
I offer you my strength said the bear
I give you my energy said the rabbit
Walk with me said the bear
Hop with me said the rabbit
Towards the sunset said the bear
Forward to the moon said the rabbit
Along the path the bear and rabbit went
One towards the sunset, one forward to the moon rising.
Look at the white flowers said the rabbit
Look at the blue sky pointed the bear
Silently walking and looking
Looking and walking
The bear and the rabbit.
I love this said the rabbit to the bear
I love you said the bear to the rabbit
Silently sitting and looking
Looking and sitting
Silently at the stars
The sun has set and moon yet to rise
Here in this space just for you rabbit and just for you bear.”
As a teacher, it is part of my job to challenge my students, not only in how they think but also in the ways they work with Spirit. Once such challenge is getting them to think outside the box and to stimulate interaction with Spirit that does not engage their thought processes or ego.
Many years ago I came across a second-hand book called GaiaStar Mandalas by Bonnie Bell and David Todd. The minute I opened the book my mind was full of ideas and ways to use these amazing pictures. Of course, I purchased the book which included page after page of richly coloured stunning mandalas made from natural materials; such as leaves, petals and feathers.
Once home I asked the book for permission to take it apart so I could use each image on its own; I then proceeded to delicately cut the book up using a scalpel. I now use these wonderful images to as inspirations for connection with Spirit and Self, as well as topics and ideas for them to speak or write about.
In a recent automatic writing class, I asked my students to work with the images and we got some lovely pieces of writing. Often when my students write I do too – below is the piece Spirit wrote via me inspired by the books cover.
Hope you enjoy.
” Orange – pulsing life – radiating joy and abundance – strong yet gentle – beating and retreating the playful journey through life.
Beating a path, then retreating to see your creation. Creation and growth. Stimulating. Developing. Transforming. Life has many variations. Many layers and transitions. The sacral chakra holds emotional energy, it speaks the emotive language. Translating that into physical sensations and urges as well as thoughts and ideas.
You are emotional beings. Embrace the idea. Embrace your emotional side and feel the flow of it through your physical body. The shudders that come with laughter and tears. The ripples and butterflies that come with pleasure and love.
Your mind will always aim to translate these sensations, to rationalise and analyse. But do not be lead by that. It is only a variation of the experience. It is not the whole story.
Emotions do not rule you. Your soul governs your learning and path and the emotions are its tools, theories, concepts, perspective and language. The soul knows how to flow through the emotional landscape. Better than your mind, more clearly than your body. They are both one-sided in their view of emotions and applications.
Through the cohesion of all the soul has a rich canvas on which to paint and explore. Which in turn enriches and deepens the learning. Each emotion adding a colour or texture to the piece. The masterpiece that you call your life.
It is an important chakra and colour. Yet you work so little with either. Or so you think. How many sunsets have you watched? All those deep oranges seeping into your energy. How many tears have you shed cleansing your emotional self as it passes through the phases of learning? How many nights spent reviewing your life, letting your mind and ego judge your emotional learning.
You choose so many ways to see yourself. But few honour your emotions. You judge being emotional as weak. We say it is not. We remind you it is powerful, insightful and needed. Your soul is grateful for every emotion experienced and felt. We say to you be the same. Rejoice in them, respect them and appreciate them more. With that comes greater learning and understanding. Not only for your soul but for humanity.
Surrounding you in the warmth of orange. We leave you with deep felt blessings. ”

I am always surprised by how old-fashioned people’s thinking is when considering trance mediumship. Oh, how the world view has become limited.
Traditionally all communication from Spirit was via trance, whether that was philosophy, automatic writing, physical phenomena or proof of survival. However, today, trance is seen in a very limited way and often shrouded in fear and misinformation. Spirit are “trailblazers” always looking to be on the “cutting edge” of what is possible with the consideration of what we need as a people. As we advance in knowledge, technology, beliefs and evolution, Spirit is right there beside us doing the same with how they communicate and connect with us.
Trance mediumship as a subject and tool is very diverse and has the potential to expand even more, should we allow it. For instance, the Spirit Communicators have changed and now speak from many levels of understanding; they may have had a human experience or not. They are stepping forward to give words but these can be spoken, written, sung or even delivered a Soul level that only the Soul can hear.
In the past, Spirit communicators were often Native American Indians, Chinese Sages or Individuals who had a human life. But now we are seeing more Collectives and beings who have not had earthly lives. Of course, some of this is being driven by ego and human manifestation but it is also a fact that Spirit has changed how they work with us. More communicators are stepping forward.
I have both a Chinese Sage (Master Chou) and a Collective (The Oracle), they were definitely chalk and cheese when I first started working with them. That difference is now less, as my work with Master Chou has changed and grown. It is a privilege to work with such diverse energies. Likewise, the Spirit beings who work with me for trance healing are many and seem to cover many levels and vibrations and decide who is healing based on the client’s needs.
There is much about energy and spirit we still do not know, and Spirit loves to experiment. This is not about recreating the old but creating new and exciting ways of working and delivering information. As the human populations grow, so our need for more options and different ways increases. The idea of “something for everyone” is at the core of how Spirit works. As a vessel, channel and teacher it is part of my role to help create, by allowing Spirit to experiment and encouraging my students to not limit the potential.
Exciting times lie ahead for Spirit communication, but it is up to us to allow it and go with the flow.
I am often asked about Spirit Guides, so I thought I would answer a few of the more common questions:-
Q: Do I have Guides
A: Yes, everyone does. It doesn’t matter if you believe in Spirit or not, they are still with you.
Q: Who are they
A: A Spirit Guide is a Spirit Being who has agreed to walk with you through this life for the purpose of guiding you and assisting you in staying on the path with what your Soul is here to do.
Q: Is my Loved One one of my Guides
A: I believe that Loved Ones are not Guides. Though they may assist your Spirit Guides in assisting you, they act as your Loved One.
Q: How many do I have
A: Everyone has three permanent Guides who are with you from birth to death. They are your Main Guide, your Doorkeeper and your Guardian Angel. You then have Guides who come and go depending on your needs – for instance, a Guide may step forward to assist you with a particular problem or situation in your life and once that is resolved or finished they step away again. Likewise, those of you who develop mediumship or healing skills will have Guides who work whilst training and when you are working professionally.
Q: What do they do
A: Your Main Guide oversees your entire life – they also supervise all the other Guides and Spirit Beings who step forward to help you or work with you. Your Doorkeeper is your bodyguard keeping who protects from unseen problems and energies. Your Guardian Angel doubles up with your Main Guide and Doorkeeper for those of you who are more comfortable connecting to an Angelic vibration rather than a Spirit one. They all work in tandem with each to support you.
Q: Can I ask them for help
A: Yes, but be mindful of what you are asking. Spirit Guides cannot tell you what to do, they can point you in the right direction or give you inspiration. They often do this through thoughts, songs, signs, symbols, white feathers and so on.
Q: How do I talk to them
A: Simply address your words or thoughts to them and they will hear you. You can also ask them to answer through a pendulum, oracle or tarot cards or spiritual tools such as a book like “The Book of Answers” by Carol Bolt.
Q: What do they look like
A: Whatever you need them to, or something befitting the role they are taking for you. For instance, a Doorkeeper might appear as a Warrior, a Healing Guide might appear as a Doctor and so on.
Q: Do they have names
A: Spirit does not need or use names as we but of course they will give you a name if you need one. Ask them to give you a name and then wait for the inspiration – trust what you get.
Should you want to build a better relationship with your Guides then there are plenty of courses and workshop run on this topic and lots of books dedicated to it. You can also use visualisation to meet them.
